Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith has been voted the 10th best drummer of the past 25 years in a recent online poll by Rhythm Magazine! (The UK's Best Selling Drum Magazine) The results were announced on Rhythm Magazine's website on August 10th 2010.
As the driving force behind the funk rock behemoth that is the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Chad Smith has rarely been out of the spotlight during the last 25 years. As well as forming one of the most watertight rhythm sections in history with Red Hot Chili Peppers bandmate Flea, Chad Smith has also wowed us in recent years with killer side projects like Chickenfoot and the Bombastic Meatbats.

Chad Smith & Dick Van Dyke release new Children's Album The Rhythm Train!

As previously mentioned on Stadium-Arcadium.com, Red Hot Chili Peppers Drummer and all round cool guy Chad Smith has teamed up with Mary Poppins star Dick Van Dyke to record a children's album called The Rhythm Train!
TheRhythmTrain.com has released pictures of Chad Smith making music videos and recording with Dick Van Dyke for the Album.
A portion of all proceeds generated from the sale of The Rhythm Train Music CD will go directly to Children's Hospitals across America in an effort to support uncompensated care. In addition to Children's Hospitals, The Rhythm Train has partnered with Partners in Health, a non-profit medical relief organization which has been on the ground in Haiti for 20 years. CS: John will always be with the band, but right now he is just a busy man, John is and always will be about the music. I love John and I'm happy he is doing what he wants.

Nick Arnold With this new Chili Peppers record, are you guys taking a new direction, or will you be sticking with your more recent sound?
Chad Smith It is a new direction because we've got a new guitar player, Josh Klinghoffer, and he's an amazing musician, so it's obviously gonna change. But it's also gonna change because we've got a new guy in the group, and he's very talented, very musical. It's fresh, it's fun, everyone is in a good mood, everyone is coming up with lots of good ideas, and I just look forward to what the future is gonna bring. I know it's gonna be different and exciting. It just makes me really happy to get up everyday and go to rehearsals, because I know something new and cool is gonna happen, and so I'm looking for it; it's awesome.

L.A.'s Roxy Theatre to Host Ron Asheton Tribute Show
This January 13th, the Roxy Theatre in Los Angeles will host the Jam for Ron Asheton, the former Stooges guitarist who died last year from an apparent heart attack.
Scott Asheton, Mike Watt and Steve Mackay of the Stooges are all set to perform, while other guest stars will include Jane's Addiction's Stephen Perkins and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith. More special guests are also expected to take the stage at the event.

Further speculation about John Frusciante's place within the band continues to become a prominent topic of discussion amongst Red Hot Chili Peppers fans. Chad Smith revealed that he has been told NOT to answer questions about John Frusciante in a recent interview with Classic Rock Magazine.
Classic Rock: So the Chilis have finally returned to work, following the 2006 double-set Stadium Arcadium. Did guitarist John Frusciante, who in recent interviews seemed to express antipathy towards doing so, take some persuading?
Chad Smith: [Sounding uncomfortable]: Well… at this time I can’t talk about that. I have been told to stay away from the John questions.
